- כּוֹבַעm. (b. h.; כבע, cmp. גבע a. denominatives) helmet, turban. Ber.24a מניחן בכ׳וכ׳ let him put them (the Tfillin) into the turban under his pillow. Gitt.14b (of the Persians) כּוֹבְעָן אמה their turban is one cubit high; a. e.Pl. כּוֹבְעִים, כּוֹבְעִין. Gen. R. s. 99 לובשי כ׳ wearing helmets. Y.Gitt.I, end, 43d; Y.Kidd.III, 64a bot. כּוֹבְעֵיחֶן אמה (v. supra).Trnsf. the thyroid cartilage, Adams apple. Ḥull.19a משיפוי כ׳וכ׳ from where the thyroid cartilage begins to protrude and downward.
